KENNETH D. CLARY Liberty Center A time of sharing and remembering for Kenneth D. Clary, 70, who passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at his home, will be held 7 p.m., Monday, March 25 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Ken was born in Indianola on July 21, 1942. He graduated from Indianola High School and continued on to receive his Bachelors Degree from Simpson College and Masters Degrees from Drake University. Ken was married to Peggy Rae Halterman on June 1, 1963; they were married for 49 years. "Mr. C" retired as the High School Guidance Counselor from Southeast Warren Community Schools after over 33 years of service. During these years he held multiple teaching and coaching positions; including coaching the 1968 State Championship Softball Team. His true joys were hunting, fishing and playing cards; especially with his close friends. Ken is survived by his wife, Peggy; two sons, Krey D (Deanna Hommer) and Kenneth D (Jodi Clary); his five grandchildren Derek Hommer, Torie Hommer, Kasey Clary, Mikayla Clary and Koby Clary; his sister Anne Fridley and her husband Tom and their children Rod, Gary and Cindy. Ken is preceded in death by his parents Homer "Dude" Clary and Lila Clary; as well as his sister Jean Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gathered on behalf of Team Fox (for Parkinson's research).
