IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Keith Eugene
Weeks
September 16, 1931 – December 18, 2023
Keith Eugene Weeks, of Pharr, Texas, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Keith was born on September 16, 1931, and grew up on a farm south of Indianola with his parents Fred Leland and Mildred Leota (Forman) Weeks, and a sister and brother.
Keith graduated from Indianola High School in 1950. He always had a nice car, but he was especially proud of his 1956 Purple Crown Victoria. Keith acquired a private pilot license and enjoyed his Piper J-3 Cub and Cessna planes.
Keith became a traveling salesman 30-weeks of the year, driving an entertainment bus he used as his home-on-the-road, office, and showroom. He sold Adolph Schuman for Lilli Ann, a high-end ladies' apparel, in a five-state area.
During the other 22-weeks of the year, he acquired a Captain's License, and then owned and operated a charter boat on Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota.
Keith married Kimberlea (Brelje) Burmeister on May 16, 1987. They lived and raised Kim's two children in the Lake Minnetonka area.
Keith and Kim started many successful businesses including a Mailbox store and when they became empty nesters, moved and started a limousine business in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota.
After Keith's retirement, they moved to Pharr, Texas. For the past 14 years, they have enjoyed being part of the GMC Motorhome Community while administering and conducting two conventions yearly somewhere in the United States for GMC Motorhomes International. During the summer they returned to Indianola and for several years served as campground host at the Fairview Campground at the Warren County Fairgrounds.
Five years ago, Keith's dream of owning a building on an acreage in his hometown was realized. They built a beautiful building on an acreage north of Lake Ahquabi State Park.
They enjoyed two breakfast clubs, cocktail hours, and meals at Houston's in Milo – which included his precious dog, Sir Bentley.
Keith was mechanically inclined; he could operate and fix anything. He loved to work on, restore and ride Cushman Motor Scooters. He restored 32 Cushmans including two Trucksters.
But he didn't stop there. He had his father's 1958 AC D17 restored, and rode the D17 in the Warren County Tractor Ride. He proudly displayed the tractor during the Warren County Fair and at the Iowa State Fair.
Keith was spunky, quick witted, and always had a joke to tell.
Keith is survived by his wife Kim, dog Sir Bentley, step-daughter Miquette (Mark) Bethke and their two children, step-son Derek (Kristy Naegely) Burmeister; children Cindi Lee (Steve) Shannon and Wende (Ron) Coenen from his second wife, Dixie; children, Karen Jones, Keila (Norris) Krohn, Connie (Dan) Salamone, Bradley (Corinne) Tometich, Brenton (Barb) Tometich from his first wife, Jeanne; and several grand, great, and great-great grandchildren. Sister Marilyn Hutchison and brother Dean (Paula) Weeks, and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son Chip Weeks and granddaughter Kelly Len (Brady) Nafus from second marriage.
