Obituary

Services for Keith Allen Crawford, 82, who died Thursday, October 1, 2009, will be 9 a.m., Tuesday, October 6 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Indianola.

Born in Creston, Iowa on November 7, 1926 to James and Lucille (Edds) Crawford and lived the all but the first four years of his life in Warren County, Iowa.

Keith had farmed all of his life; served as a Corporal in the United States Army; worked for Ford Motor Company; and was a feed store and seed sales owner in Martensdale.

In 1948 he was joined in marriage to Annie O'Neal. To this union came three children, David, Betty and Beverly. He later married Jean Ford and her two daughters, Sheila and Rhonda Green joined the family. In 1988 he married his true and lasting love, Roxanne Masteller and her three daughters, Danice, Darla and Dena joined the family.

Keith has been a member of Farm Bureau for 50+ years. His passions in life were farming, children, NASCAR, and card games. His spare time was spent having coffee with "the boys" at two different places in Martensdale, playing Pitch with "the boys" at "The Pub" in Indianola and playing Black Jack where ever he found a game. Keith rarely met a stranger.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 22 years, Roxanne; son, David (Sue) Crawford; daughters, Betty (Bob) Minella, Beverly (Larry) Rigg; their daughters, Danice Keller, Darla (Roger Means) Truman and Dena (Matt) Bernett; step daughters, Sheila (Steve) Green and Rhonda (Kelly) Green; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Gerald Crawford; and many, many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, James and Lucille Crawford; brothers, Clarence and Kenneth; and sisters, Josephine, Charlotte and Marjorie.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 5 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Martensdale Fire Department in his name.
