Obituary

Julie Ann Scrivner, 64, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026.

Julie was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and raised in Audubon, Iowa, where she graduated from Audubon High School in 1979. She later continued her education at AIB College of Business, graduating in 1988.

Julie began her professional career at Principal Financial Group, where she worked until the mid-1990s. With an entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic, she later followed her passion for helping others by opening her own seamstress and financial bookkeeping business, Jewells Professional Services, where she faithfully served clients and friends for many years.

Julie’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved camping at Cutty’s Resort with her grandchildren and great-grandchild, creating memories around the campground and enjoying time outdoors together. She also cherished traveling with the love of her life, her husband, Gary. Julie was a woman of strong faith and was very involved in her church and church activities throughout her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Chris) Darr; grandchildren, Hailey Darr and Maci Darr; great-granddaughter, Ava Lewiston; mother, Shirley Smith; stepmother, Norma Burger; siblings, Jeanie (Danny) Foster, Shelly Fulton, Shelia (Corey) Null, Terril (Mary) Burger; 6 step-siblings; along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Gary Scrivner; father, Terrill Burger; stepfather, Levern Smith.

Julie will be remembered for her strong faith, caring heart, and the deep love she had for her family. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with those she loved most, and her legacy will live on through the generations she adored.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 21 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with inurnment to follow in the St. Charles Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Julie’s honor to Thrive Church in Indianola, Iowa, or to Iowa Donor Network.
