Julie was born on January 4, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa to Clarence "Eli" and Gertrude (Blewett) Myrland. She spent her childhood and adolescent years in Onawa, Iowa. Upon graduation from high school, Julie moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she attended Drake University. She is a graduate of American Institute of Business. Julia was employed by the Indianola Public Schools as a teacher's assistant and retired after 26 years of service.

Julie has one grandchild, Aaron Modlin (16) of Indianola, Iowa. Julie enjoyed the companionship and love of many friends. Found among Julie's keepsakes was a tattered clipping with the following verse, "When the coffee is hot and the talk is good, and the feeling is easy and the laughter is light, and the memories are many but the time is too short, you know you are with a friend."
Julie had many interests including watching hummingbirds, playing her flute in various groups in the Des Moines, Iowa and Phoenix, Arizona area, line dancing with senior groups in both Indianola and Phoenix, traveling for years with her husband and family to Colorado, and wintering in the Phoenix area.
Julie will be greeted in heaven by her parents, her mother and father-in-law (Morris and Nina Modlin), and her beloved pets, Ziggy and Ping.
Memorials may be directed to the Westview Care Center of Indianola, Iowa. Julie would be pleased to be honored by a contribution of one act of kindness for others, in her loving memory. Julie provided a unique gift of tissue donation in order to advance research relative to frontotemporal dementia. Online condolences may be sent at www.overtonfunerals.com.
