Funeral Mass for Judy Lou Pierson, 80, of Omaha, Nebraska, will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 6 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Churchville. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, February 5 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Reciting of the Rosary will be held at 5 p.m., prior to visitation.
Judy Lou Seymour was born December 22, 1943 at the hospital in Indianola to Joe and Clara (Reising) Seymour. Judy's twin brother Jerry died as an infant.
Judy attended Martensdale High School and during this time had health issues with having a brain tumor removed.
Judy completed her GED with the Department of Public Instruction, State of Iowa, while living in Indianola. She attended Larimer County Voc-Tech Community Center in Fort Collins, Colorado majoring in Business including Medical Terminology.
Judy provided and assisted in healthcare for her mother until she passed in 1978.
Judy married Bill Pierson and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado for approximately a year and a half. Judy then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she lived for thirty years. While in Phoenix, she worked in Medical Records with various employers. Then Judy moved to an apartment in Omaha, Nebraska in 2009.
After many serious falls, Judy moved in with her sister Dorothy in 2014. In September of 2016, she moved to St. Joseph Towers assisted living then, due to required care, Judy entered St. Joseph Nursing Home in January of 2019. Judy entered Hospice care in September 2023, with St. Joseph Home Care & Hospice.
Judy enjoyed the Nursing Home staff, especially the nurses. She loved to visit with friends and would always get in a conversation concerning dogs and dog shows.
Judy passed away peacefully Sunday, January 28, 2024. Surviving are her sister, Dorothy Seymour and brother Earl Seymour, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Clara Seymour; husband, Bill Pierson; sisters, Irene, Mary and Betty; and brothers, George, John, Joe, Clarence, Gene, Roy and Jerry.
Many thanks to St. Joseph Villa Staff and St. Joseph Homecare & Hospice staff for the care and attention given by them, especially Anna, Dave and Maria.
