Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce Judith Ann Perry, mother, grandmother, and sister peacefully passed away on June 5th, 2024, at her family farm near Martensdale-St. Marys, Iowa, surrounded by loved ones. Judith was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma, the daughter of R.J. and Myldred (Halbert) Dennett.

Judy graduated from Drexel High School in Drexel, Missouri and attended Central Missouri State College, in Warrensburg, where she met and married her best friend and partner-in-crime, Marvin Perry on August 15, 1964.  They moved to Iowa and lived in Ankeny and Elkhart then in 1978 they decided to move back to Marvin's childhood home near Martensdale to raise cattle, and breed and show Quarter horses, while raising their two boys.

Judy spent many years serving and helping the Warren County Fair Association. She had a passion for showing Quarter Horses around the country, and trial riding with her mules. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at her lake house in the Ozarks and taking vacations, most recently to Cabo San Lucas, Iceland, and Ireland. Judy will be remembered by all for her kindness, her sense of humor, and her love for her family and friends.

Judy is survived by her sons, Mike (Brynn Kathol) Perry and Matt (Heather) Perry; grandchildren, Austin (Callie), Zach (Haley Boone), Jocelyn (Jake), Alaynah, Zadok, Judah, and Solo; great-granddaughter; Jaxon; siblings, Gerry (Vicki) Dennett and Travis (Summer) Dennett; extended family and many, many friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Perry, her parents, and baby girl Kelly.

The family will be hosting a visitation at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m., with traditional services at Overton Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow services in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would be appreciative of donations, in Judy's memory, made to the Warren County Saddle Club or Warren County Fair Association.
