Judith Justine Avery, 82, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023 in Indianola, were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in the Coal Ridge Church Cemetery, rural Marion County, Iowa.

Judy was born May 31, 1941 to Robert and Alice (Simmons) Avery.  She attended country schools in Marion County School System on May 19, 1955 and graduated from Knoxville High School in May of 1961.

Judy worked in the dining service, housekeeping and laundry service for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville for 41 years.  She enjoyed fishing, walking  in the timber, rock collecting, and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert W. and Alice L (Simmons) Avery; sister, Linda K. Langstraat; grandson: Zachary J. Elsloo and great-granddaughters, Lydia Elsloo and Evelyn Elsloo.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Elsloo; granddaughter, Cassandra (Dustin) Hagen and their children Bryant and Gavin Hagen; great-grandson Wyatt Elsloo; granddaughter-in-law Amanda Elsloo; brother-in-law; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and two siblings.

Memorials may be given to the Marion County Veterans Affairs in her memory.
