Juanita Pearl Yeater was born on September 27, 1907 to Oscar William and Daisy Pearl Yeater in LaPlata MO. She grew up in Chariton, IA where she graduated from Chariton High School. Upon graduation, she became a legal secretary specializing in real estate and insurance.
In 1931 Juanita married Bernard LeRoy Main. Bernard and Juanita moved to Mason City, IA in 1941 where he was Secretary and Comptroller of Finances for the Mason City School System. In Mason City, Juanita was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Veleda Club and served on the board of directors of Community Concerts. Bernard and Juanita retired to Sun City, AZ in 1974. In 1982 Bernard died in Sun City.
Nita married Wendell M Tutt in Sun City, AZ in 1985. Both were members of Lakeview Methodist Church and Nita was a member of Chapter BX of the PEO Sisterhood. In 1993, they returned to Wendell's hometown, Indianola, IA to live at the Village. Both Nita and Wendell were very active well into their 90's. They especially enjoyed family, many friends, new experiences and travel. Wendell died in 1999.
In September, 2007, Nita celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at the Village gazebo.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one brother and three sisters.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving family: her children DeLoss and Myrna Main of Green Valley AZ; Delores and Bill Bing of Altadena CA; Jim and Linda Tutt of Indianola, IA; Don and Wendy Fenster of Bellevue, NE; a brother-in-law, nieces and nephews, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; as well as the many friends she made everywhere she lived including the employees of the Village and Hospice of Central Iowa who graciously cared for her in her later years.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, April 19 at the Village Retirement Center, 1203 North E Street, Indianola, IA.
It was Nita's wish that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in her name to the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Warren County, PO Box 417, Indianola, IA 50125.
