It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Scott Looker, 52, of Chariton, Iowa, who passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 1 to 2:30 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. A time of Remembrance and Sharing will begin at 2:30 p.m.

Born on December 20, 1973, Joe grew up with a love of music, the outdoors, and a heart full of love. He would go on to pursue a passion in metal working, becoming a journeyman with the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 45 in 2004.

Joe married Kelly Dawson in 1997, and together they had three children; Tristan, born in 2002, and twins Braedan and Brennan, born in 2009. He was later married to his current wife, Ann Looker, in 2018. Their blended family included her children, Kourtney, Austin, Lexi, and Chloe.

Joe was a loving husband, caring father, and loyal friend. He loved playing guitar, fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, and rock collecting. He took pride in his family, and would do anything to help those he loved.

Joe's warmth, generosity, and honest spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Looker; his aforementioned children, Tristan, Braedan, and Brennan; mother, Linda Looker; siblings, Tina and Sara Looker; and nephews/nieces; Savannah, Des, Shawn, Jake, Dallas, Eric, and Johnny.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe's memory to Central Iowa Drug Rehabilitation Programs.
