Funeral services for Jon Alan Cummings, 58, who passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 in Des Moines, will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Cremation will follow services.

Jon was born July 26, 1963 in Grinnell, IA to Larry and Margaret (Reed) Cummings. He attended Indianola schools and graduated IHS in 1982. Jon entered Local #347 Electrical Apprenticeship program and worked all 38 years of his career with Baker Electric as an electrician.

He married Theresa Hadaway on May 15, 1993. They raised one daughter, Sarah.

Jon enjoyed Iowa Hawkeye sports-particularly football where he had season tickets, cheering on the KC Chiefs, fishing, golfing, gardening, smoking meats, hanging out with family and friends and visiting South Padre Island, TX.

He is survived by his wife Theresa of 28 years; daughter, Sarah Cummings; mother, Margaret Cummings; brothers, Scott and Rob Cummings; and sister, Mary Robinson and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father Larry Cummings.

Visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2021, at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends.  The family requests those in attendance, please wear your favorite sports team apparel.
