Born in Lacona, Iowa, John had been a Des Moines resident during the past twenty years. He previously lived in Indianola. Prior to his retirement, John was a heavy equipment truck driver and had been employed by ITT Trucking and Heavy Haulers. His hobbies were dancing and camping.

John is survived by two sons, David of Des Moines and Robert of Indianola; three daughters Debbie Baldwin of Des Moines, Terry Fritz of Rural Prole, and Tammy Burns of Paw Paw, Michigan; a brother Marvin of Indianola; a sister Norma Kliment of Arkansas; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation with family and friends will be on Tuesday, May 3, beginning at noon at Overton Funeral Home.
