A Funeral Mass for John Swatta, 90, who passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at The Village in Indianola, will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 3 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola with burial following in the Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

John retired from Firestone as a tire builder in 1985.

Survivors include his daughter, Dr. Marlene (Todd) Schommer-Aikins; sister, Patricia Willis; step-daughters, Lois, Charlotte and Lynnette; step-sons Gary, Kevin and Louis; and two nieces.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary, his second wife, Marcella; and sister, Rose Marie Swatta.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 2 at Overton Funeral Home with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given in his name to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
