JOHN W. DYER Indianola Services for John W. Dyer, 58, who passed away at his home on Monday, January 28, 2013, will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 1 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. He was born to Ivil and Jane (Vavra) Dyer on March 11, 1954 in Carroll, Iowa. They moved back to the family farm south of Indianola where they added two sisters to the family, Barbara and Kristin. As a fourth-generation farmer, he lived and worked on the family farm all his life raising cattle and hogs. John married Patty Graham in 1975 and had three children, Jenny, Laura and Bob. He loved Western movies and books, the Warren County Fair, eating at Crouse's Café and his family. He was active in both 4-H and FFA in his younger days and loved exhibiting animals at the Fair. He is survived by his children, Jenny (Jon) Young, Laura (Greg) Avitt and Bob (Brenda) Dyer all of Indianola, grandchildren Will and Emma Young, Grace and Ben Avitt and Wyatt Dyer. John is also survived by his mother, Jane of Medora , his sisters, Barbara (Al) Weber of Ames, and Kristin (Jack) Gochenour of Missouri Valley, and one nephew and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Ivil. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 31 at Overton Funeral Home where family present from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be given to the family in his name.
