Services for John W. Crandall, 81, who died Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 12 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

John was born October 31, 1927 on a farm near Beech, Iowa, to William and Amy Crandall.  He farmed in Iowa until March 1964, when the family moved to Indianola.  He then worked at Simpson College until he retired at age 60.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Alice Smith; son, Harold Crandall; 2 grandsons, Anthony and Chad; and great grandson, Zachariah; 2 sisters, Mary Lou Borts and Ruth Davitt.

Visitation will be held from 1 - 5 p.m. Sunday, January 11, at Overton Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 3 - 5 p.m.  Memorials may be given to the family in his name.
