A year later, she met Frank Johnson, and the two were married on May 9, 1954 at Rising Sun Church of Christ and settled in Norwalk, Iowa. She loved spending time with her family and friends, hosting many gatherings at her house on holidays and other special occasions. Also dedicated to service, Joann used her talents and resources and hospitality to minister to others throughout her life. She was also active in the community as one of the Friends of the Norwalk Library.
