JOAN D. HOLT Indianola Services for Joan D. Holt, 79, will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church. Joan was born in Albia, IA on July 24, 1932 to Albert and Doris (Cashatt) DeGues and passed away in her sleep Saturday, February 11, 2012. She was united in marriage to Glen Holt on February 18, 1954 and they had two sons, Dennis and Gary. Joan and Glen managed the Diner restaurant and Dog N Suds in Indianola and built and owned the Lazy R Mobile Home Park. She worked for the State Liquor Department, working as the manager for the Indianola store and later became a State liquor auditor where she retired from. She loved watching her birds and squirrels and made sure they had plenty to eat and was an avid garage saler both going to and having. She enjoyed her special time having coffee with her church friends after church services. She was an Indianola City Council Woman, delivered Meals on Wheels, and helped in various organizations throughout her life. Joan was instrumental in and a major supporter of getting the W.O.O.F. Dog Park in Indianola for her best buddy, Chelsea, as well as for all of Chelsea's friends. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Doris; husband, Glen; son, Denny; and sister, Barb. She lives on through her son, Gary Holt of Indianola; granddaughter, Danielle Holt of Las Vegas, NV; grandson, Eli Holt of Des Moines; great-grandchildren, Madison and Nikeli of Des Moines; and her baby girl Chelsea, her King Charles Spaniel. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, W.O.O.F. Dog Park or Kiya Koda Humane Society.
