JO ANN TUTTLE

Services for Jo Ann Tuttle, 79, of Norwalk, IA, who passed away Friday, November 29, 2019 in Des Moines, will be held 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 3 at Grace Church, 4200 E. 25 th Street, Des Moines, IA. Visitation will be held prior to services from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday December 4 in the Wallace Cemetery, Wick, IA.

JoAnn (Shore) Tuttle was born on December 27, 1939 in rural Lucas county, Iowa at the family home.  Her parents, Joseph Edward Shore and Mary (Howk) Shore owned a farm just outside of Chariton, Iowa where they lived and worked.  It was a typical Iowa snowy, wintery day and the county was given special instructions to keep their road open for the doctor as a new baby was expected at any time.  JoAnn grew up on the family farm with her sister, Janet (Shore) Boozell where they learned to work hard, and participated in Four H and other activities with friends and neighbors.  JoAnn attended a "one room" country school house until her later years when she attended Chariton High School.

JoAnn met her future husband, Ron Tuttle, through a mutual friend during her latter years of high school and they were wed within a few years following graduation.  They soon started a family and moved to Indianola which was centrally located between work and "home."  They raised two children, Rhonda (Tuttle) Bruce and Jeff Tuttle in Indianola and later moved to Norwalk where they lived until their deaths.

JoAnn Tuttle was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Shore, and is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Janet (Shore) and Richard Boozell; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda (Tuttle) and Dan Bruce; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff & Barb (Babcock) Tuttle; grandchildren Ryan Gideon, Aimee (Gideon) and Eric Gillaspie, Abbey (Tuttle) and Andrew Sindt, Jordan Tuttle, Ally Gideon; and great-grandchildren, Addi, Aydon, and Emma Gillaspie.

The overriding factor that defined JoAnn's life was a decision she made as a child to place her faith and trust in the redemptive power of Jesus Christ.  It was her maturing faith in Him that drove her love of family and sustained her through the many challenges she faced in life including the many years she fought cancer.  A favorite verse of JoAnn's was II Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

Memorials may be given to Grace Church in her name to assist those fighting cancer.
