IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jimmie "Rocky"
Rockwell
October 29, 1953 – April 24, 2020
Jim D. Rockwell, "Rocky", 66, of Carlisle, was called home to be with the Lord on April 24,2020.
I am quite sure that when he arrived at the Pearly Gates he proudly announced, "Big Jim has arrived!"
Upon finishing high school Jim proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. Later he went on to become a Deputy Sheriff in Warren County where he wore badge #29. This was more than a job it was his passion and he served his community well. Jim loved sports and he loved the Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved to play a variety of sports but softball was one of his favorites. He was always looking to challenge himself and became involved in martial arts where he strived to be the very best earning a black belt in Taekwondo.
If you knew Jim at all you know he was a real jokester. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh. He enjoyed taking to people and he was very kind and thoughtful, always willing to help out in any way he could. He was a very proud Papa and his granddaughters were his pride and joy.
The girls have lots of memories to cherish of all the silly conversations they got to have with him. Jim leaves behind two daughters, Misty (Craig) Garofalo, three granddaughters, Madeline, Emily, and Chloe Garofalo, and his daughter, Alison Smith and her family, his loving mother,
Dorothy Rockwell, two brothers, Bob Rockwell and Rick Rockwell, and his beloved K-9 companion, "Cowboy". He is preceded in death by his brother, Dan Rockwell.
There will be a graveside memorial service for his immediate family only due to the coronavirus. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue via their website at www.thegreatdanerescue.com or by mail at: P.O. Box 21485 Eagan, MN 55121.
