JERRY WILSON Des Moines Memorial services for Jerry Wilson, 68, who passed away, Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in Des Moines will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, February 15 at Shepherd of The Valley Lutheran Church 39th and Ashworth Rd in West Des Moines, IA Jerry Worked for the Des Moines Police Department for 36 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and chasing his great granddaughter. He was a member of the Mid Iowa Woodcarvers and Prairie Chippers. His latest hobby was learning to turn wood into ink pens in a class he and his wife took together. Jerry was a great role model and always put family and friends first. He was never too busy to help with school projects or teach his children and grandchildren to carve. Survivors include his wife Janis; daughters, Sheri (Terry) Ober of Indianola and Sandi (Dan) Mouzakis of Carlisle; brother, Dennis Wilson of Carlisle and sister, Bev (Pat) Wilson of South Dakota; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ben) Ober of Texas, Danielle (Jon) Gilbert of Indianola, Becka Ober and Dustin Ober of Indianola, Chelsie (Seth) Smith and Tristan Mouzakis of Carlisle; great granddaughter Peyton Gilbert; sister-in-law Judy (Larry) Martin; nephews, Craig (Julie) Wilson and Joshua (Natalie) Martin and great niece and nephew, Sophia and Zakariya Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Marilyn Wilson, niece Tawnya Wilson and sister-in-law Rhonda Wilson Memorials may be given to LLS (Leukemia Lymphoma Society).
