Born in Iowa City, he had farmed near Medora and New Virginia before moving to Indianola in 1991. Jerry had been employed as an animal feed salesman in Indianola and also worked at International Harvester Co., before working in the detail department at Noble Ford in Indianola. He loved the farm, auctioneering, dancing and singing.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy of Indianola; son, Rodney Stalter of Indianola; daughter, Jackie Matledge of St. Marys; two stepsons, Rod Powers and Mike Powers, both of Indianola; and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Ray of Indianola, Keith of Seattle, WA, and Jim of Adel; five sisters, Darlene Goodrich of Prole, Mary Adamson, Marie Knoer, and Carolyn Knouse, all of Indianola, and Shirley Bishop of Eminence, MO.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Claren and Julia Stalter; two brothers, Gale and Carol; and an infant sister, Judy.
Visitation will be held 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Treatment and Research Center, 640 Jackson Street, St. Paul, MN 55101 or to the Carlisle Care Center.
