Visitation for Jerry Nicholson, 72, who passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016, will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 27 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Jerry Nicholson was born on May 22nd, 1944 to Virgil and Blanche Nicholson. He was born on their family farm in rural Indianola, where he was raised with his 5 older siblings. Growing up he used to go coon hunting with his dad and brother, and was still an avid coon hunter after he married and moved off the farm.

On November 30th, 1963 he wed Winnifred Seuferer. At his passing, Jerry and Winnie had been married for 52 years and 10 months. They had three children together, two daughters, Teri and Michelle, and a son, Kurt. They also have 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, with ages ranging from 1 to 30 years old. The majority of the family still lives in Indianola and the surrounding Des Moines area.

Survivors include his wife, Winnie; son, Kurt Nicholson and daughter, Michelle Nicholson; son-in-law, Mike Schumacher; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Phyllis Curnes and Linda Miller.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Martha Crook and Mildred Miller; brother, Harvey Nicholson; daughter, Teri Schumacher; and grandson, Justin Schumacher.
