Jerry and his smile passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines at the age of 77 years. Jerry Edwin Jones was born June 9, 1937 to John "Jack" and Mary (Miller) Jones in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines in 1955 and worked on farms, road construction operating heavy equipment and many other jobs and retired from Pirelli Armstrong. He is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife Nancy; children Nonie (Steve) McGraw and Dan (Susan) Jones; four grandchildren, Amanda (Dan) Lage, Daniell Jones, Jeremy (Jessica McGuire) Jones and Shelly (Mike) Grandstaff; four great-grandchildren, Araley, Mylah, Milo and Payton. He is also survived by numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John "Jack" and Mary Jones; brothers, Jack, Jim and Jerald Jones and son-in-law Dan Walsh. He enjoyed bowling, camping, travel, drag racing, snowmobiling with friends, hunting deer and pheasant, bow hunting, riding motorcycles with his son Dan, and casino's. He loved animals and animals loved him. Jerry and Nancy wintered in Port Aransas, Texas for 17 years. Visitation with family present will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 15 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.
