Jerry Don
Barrell
December 11, 1967 – March 19, 2026
Services for Jerry Don Barrell, 58, of Indianola, who passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Belmont Cemetery, Milo. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, at Overton Funeral Home, where family will be present to greet friends.
Growing up, Jerry had a mind for mechanical things and wanted to know how things worked, which carried through to adulthood. He was very proud of his military service as a United States Marine, where he acquired electrical training. Upon leaving, it was fitting that he was a handyman working on various types of construction and car mechanics.
Jerry enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook. He loved cooking for others. He most recently talked about holiday celebrations at the apartment complex with his friends there. He enjoyed watching old black and white westerns, and also some reading.
He had a knack for finding four-leaf clovers. He could spot them out of nowhere, when all everyone else saw was a bunch of weeds. They could be found pressed into the pages of numerous books, his Bible, and shared them abundantly with friends and family.
Jerry is known, not only for his witty personality and ability to make people laugh, but his unrelenting kind, giving heart. He would give a stranger anything they needed, even if it left him with nothing, which many times it did. He was fiercely loyal, and know that if he called you friend, then you were now also his family.
Jerry is survived by his parents, Donnie and Marilyn Barrell; siblings, Mike (Gail) Barrell, Kelly (Jamie) Henderson; children, Cassondra (Valerie) Kloberdanz, Marissa (Alawaash) Ahmed, Joey Barrell, Brittany (Jon) Horn; 7 grandchildren; many other family and friends.
Memorials in memory of Jerry may be given to the family.
