Jennifer was born in Long Beach, California and graduated from Martensdale St. Marys High School in 1992. She worked as an administrative assistant to the CEO of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines. She was a wonderful mom to her son, Jacob and enjoyed softball, car racing (Dale Earnhart, Jr.), ISU Cyclones and spending time with her son.

She is survived by her son, Jacob Herrera of Waukee; parents, Ken and Rhonda Tomes of Waukee; grandparents, Larry and Mary Goode of Norwalk and Friedel Tomes of St. Charles; sister, Heather (Kasey) Poe and children, Marcus and Curtis Poe all of Des Moines; brother, Tim (Joy) Tomes and children, Donovan and Annabelle all of Mitchellville; aunts and uncles, Dino (Jackie) Goode of Norwalk, Kevin (Theresa) Goode of Des Moines, Matt (Rhonda) Goode of Des Moines, Mike (Denise) Goode of Johnston, Tony Goode of Norwalk, and Kelly (Jim) Keller of Norwalk; and many cousins and many friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 18 from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8:00 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a college trust fund for Jacob Herrera c/o Community State Bank, 1401 North Jefferson, Indianola, IA 50125, Mercy Hospice of Johnston or the Partners with Youth Campaign YMCA of Greater Des Moines.
