Jennifer (Jennie) Houck, 57, died Friday, November 25, 2011 at home. Jennie was born May 15, 1954 in Des Moines, IA to Edwin and Billie Houck. She attended public school and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She received her Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling, Master of Science in Education, Education Specialist in Adult Education from Drake University. Jennie was a nationally certified both rehabilitation counselor and vocational evaluator and Licensed Master Social Worker. Jennie owned Lyric Counseling Services, Inc., where she took pride and joy in helping those in her chosen field of rehabilitation. Jennie will be greatly missed by her beloved cats Kiri and Suki. She is survived by her mother, Billie Houck of Urbandale; two brothers, Edwin Houck Jr. of Urbandale and William (Lora) Houck of Des Moines; two nieces, Kalee (Brandon) Jacoby of Carthage, NY and Elaine Thayer of Des Moines; one great-niece, Violena Jacoby of Carthage, NY; aunt, uncle and cousins of Pennsylvania and wonderful friends, especially Mary and Eunice. Jennie was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Houck and grandparents. The body was cremated and a graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 29 in the IOOF Cemetery in Indianola. Memorials may be given to the family in her name to be distributed per Jennie's wishes.
