Obituary

Jeanette (Haas) Pinck, 94, formerly of Des Moines and Indianola, IA passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Senior Star in Davenport, IA. Jeanette was born May 19, 1923 in Rhodes, IA to Edwin and Frances Haas. She married Earl Pinck on November 16, 1957. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, July 21 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. A private internment will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.

Jeanette excelled in sports at an early age and continued to play basketball at AIB after high school. She was inducted into the Iowa and National Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. During World War II, she played semi-pro softball, thus, sparking a love for traveling. She retired at age 70 as a secretary for Iowa Roofing in Des Moines. After retirement, she learned to do counted cross stitch and brought home many ribbons from the Iowa State Fair.

"Aunt Nettie" was adored by her loving nieces and nephews, Deborah (James) Miller of Clear Lake, Cindy (John) Harlan of Des Moines, Loretta (Kieran) Panther of St. Louis, Pat (Bert) Risley of Blue Grass, Bob (Linda) O'Hare of Davenport and Mike (Joyce) O'Hare of Taylor Ridge, IL, and a special "adopted niece," Carrie Beckwith of Moline, IL. She also had many great and great- great nieces and nephews that she adored.

She also leaves behind dear friends Don and Carol Putney of Indianola, Alma Selindh of Des Moines and Tim and Joanie Florer of Cummings.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Alice O'Hare and Marie

Keseberg; and brothers, Kenneth, John and Herbert Haas.
