Jayne Marie Mouzakis, 52, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, in Des Moines, Iowa. 

Born to Jay and Rose Marie (Stalter) Knoer, Jayne graduated from Indianola High School in 1992. Throughout her life, she was known for her strong personality, love of family, and devotion to the people and pets she held dear. 

Jayne shared many years of her life with David J. Mouzakis, and together they welcomed two daughters, Alyson and Abygail, who became her greatest pride and joy. She cherished spending time with her daughters and creating memories together. One of her favorite pastimes was watching her youngest daughter swim, proudly cheering her on from the stands whenever she could. Her love for her daughters was unwavering and remained at the center of her life. 

A passionate Iowa Hawkeyes fan, Jayne enjoyed following her team and sharing in the excitement of game days. Music was another constant in her life. Her playlists reflected her unique spirit and included everything from Eminem, N.W.A, and Megan Thee Stallion to Guns N’ Roses. She loved the comfort of her favorite Harley-Davidson shirts and was happiest when surrounded by the people, music, and simple pleasures she loved. 

Jayne also had a special affection for her beloved fur grandcats. Though she did not have grandchildren, she embraced her daughters’ cats as her own and never missed an opportunity to spoil them with love and attention. 

Jayne was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Rose Marie Knoer; David J. Mouzakis; and her niece, Paige Marie Clark. 

She is survived by her daughters, Alyson (Andy Nguyen) Mouzakis and Abygail (Jay Hale) Mouzakis; her sister, Jaynell (Mike) Schumacher; her partner, Tiffany Amanda Snellgrove; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.
