Jason Allen, age 61, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, October 8, 2021.

Jason was born in Eldora Iowa, and spent his first year of school in Rockwell City before moving to Indianola. He enjoyed playing baseball and participated in Boy Scouts of America.  In 1975 he was able to attend the Boy Scout World Jamboree in Lillehammer, Norway with other scouts in his troop.  He graduated from Indianola High School, Class of 1978.

Jason studied electrical/electronics engineering technology at National Institute of Technology, Cross Lanes, WV, and graduated Class of 1983. He worked in that field for many years before moving on to be an essential worker in the trucking industry, driving big rigs over the road.  During his final years, he enjoyed a position driving for Keck Airport Parking in Des Moines.

Jason's passions were traveling with his daughter's family, movie nights with them in Michigan, and making memories with his grandchildren. Jason had a strong belief in God and a dedicated relationship with his dad, which included breakfast and outings every weekend.

Jason's family includes: Jim and Dee Allen of Indianola; daughter Melissa (Ben) Gibney, grandchildren Connor and Bailey Kennedy, and Vera Gibney, from Wayland MI; sister Gwen (Randy) Goben of Edmond, OK; sister Peggy (Rick) Anderson of Two Harbors, MN; and Beth Cross of Elberton, GA.  He was also uncle and cousin to many others who will greatly miss him.

Jason participated in the Iowa Donor Network and gave generously after his death.  A Celebration of Life service will take place at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola on November 6 at 10:00 a.m.
