JANIS BOLSEM

Celebration of life services for Janis Bolsem, 76, who passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines of pancreatic cancer, will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28, at the Scotch Ridge Church.  Inurnment of cremains will follow services in the Scotch Ridge Cemetery.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Janis (Gibson) Bolsem was born March 8, 1942 in Des Moines, IA to Dean and Gwen (Hankins) Gibson. Jan graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960. She married the love of her life in September after graduation. They made their home in Council Bluffs and Omaha where she did clerical work. After moving back to Des Moines then to Cedar Falls and back to Urbandale, she became a homemaker raising her daughter and son.

She loved animals, especially her dogs.

She was so proud when her husband became pastor at Scotch Ridge Church of Carlisle.  She served as a deacon and enjoyed the time spent with the women's group.

Jan is survived by her husband, Douglas Bolsem; her daughter, Sue Rosien (Jeff); son, Dan Bolsem (Ashley); grandchildren, Ashley Shields (Ryan), Morgan Schumacher (Brent), Jameson Rosien (Alex), Arbor Bolsem and Thatcher Bolsem; great-grandchildren, Jack Shields, Lia Shields, Brynn Schumacher, Chandler Schumacher and Finley Rosien; her sister, Sheri Spencer (Steve). She was preceded in death by her parents.
