A Celebration of Life Gathering for Janet Mae Fox, 81, of Indianola, who passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024 will be held 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 16 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, where family will be present to greet friends. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr with her late husband Carl Fox Jr.

Janet Mae Fox was born on November 11th, 1942 as the fifth child to Vivian and Ida Mae Wells in Mt. Ayr, Iowa. She grew up in the countryside with her five other siblings Millie, JR, Gary, Jeanne and Pat.

Graduating from high school, she moved to Des Moines, Iowa with her sister Pat. While living in Des Moines, Janet met her future husband Carl when she was out at the Val Air Ballroom.

A few years after being married, Janet and Carl had a baby girl, Carla.  Then approximately a year after that, they moved onto a farm in the countryside of Indianola, Iowa. Two years later Janet gave birth to her second child, Robert.

Over the years Janet worked for various businesses including a nursery in Indianola and the botanical center in Des Moines. Outside of those jobs she worked side by side with her husband both mowing lawns and keeping the books for their company Custom Lawn Care.

Some of her favorite hobbies included staying active in her local bowling league, gardening around the farm and quilting. Carl and Janet spent many winters traveling to Texas, enjoying the weather and being with friends. Janet was also a proud grandmother to Joe and Caden Quick, and Alex and Sydney Fox. Both Janet and her husband Carl moved into the retirement facility Vintage Hills, in August of 2023.

Janet is survived by her children, Carla Quick, Robert (Vesselina) Fox; grandchildren, Joseph (Jamie) Quick, Caden Quick, Alexander Fox, Sydney Fox; great-grandchildren, Naomi Jane Quick; siblings, Patricia (Ken) Baker, J.R. (Virgie) Wells; sister-in-law, Susan Seeley, Lancaster, OH. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; parents, Vivian and Ida Wells; siblings, Millicent Knight, Gary Wells, Jeanne Wells; brother-in-law, Dale Fox.

Memorials may be given to the family in her name for a contribution at a later date.
