Jane Irene Jordan, 89, was born December 27, 1934 in Guthrie County, Iowa, the third of ten children of Maynard and Ruth Covault Millhollin. She died April 27, 2024.
She attended one-room rural schools through the 8th grade and graduated valedictorian of the Guthrie Center High School class of 1953. In 1954 she married George Jordan, living in Des Moines for 12 years where their 3 children were born. In 1966 she and the children moved to Guthrie Center. There she worked as an elementary school secretary, at the local newspaper office and Production Credit/Federal Land Bank in Guthrie Center and after to moving to Perry.
Jane was active as a lay person in the United Methodist Church and entered full time ministry in 1986. She graduated from the Saint Paul School of Theology COS in Kansas City and was ordained Deacon in the Iowa Annual Conference in 1991. She served United Methodist congregations in Richland-Ollie, Prairie View, Corwith-Wesley and Woodbine. After retiring in 1999, she served interims at Hedrick-Martinsburg and Packwood Christian Disciples of Christ. In retirement she enjoyed gardening, quilting, genealogy, jigsaw puzzles and leading bible studies. In 2013 she moved to Meadow Glen Terrace Senior Living in Indianola.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Dennis, Bob (Bea) and Jim (Marge). Survivors are: son Steve (Jana) of McGregor, IA, daughters Teresa (Kevin) McAcy of Omaha and Rebecca Jordan of Clive; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, brothers Bill (Vi) and Ted of Montana, Dick (Charlotte) and Jack of Arizona, sisters Nina of Harlan and Lois of Arkansas.
The family will be holding a private memorial at Bear Grove cemetery in rural Guthrie County at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Indianola Public Library or Heifer Project International in her memory.
