Funeral services for James Looker, Sr., 71, who passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at home surrounded by his family, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 1 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Interment with military rites will follow services at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Indianola.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Tina (Jeff), James, Joe (Ann) and Sara; grandchildren, Shawn (Nikki), Jonny (Justine), Jake (Melissa), Eric, Dallas, Des (Adam), Savannah, Kortney (Kyle), Austin (Chrissy), Alexis, Tristan, Kloie, Braedan, Brennan and Christopher; six great- grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Michael, Dennis, and Bonnie Sue; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Town and his father, Eugene "Bud" Looker.

Jim was born on January 5, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa. Throughout his life, he had many experiences from fighting forest fires in Washington at the age of 16 to cutting hair aboard the U.S.S. Brooke in the Navy during Vietnam. He was a barber for 55 years, owning his own shop for 40 years.  He loved to teach and was Director of the Iowa Barber College for nine years.  He loved farming and carpentry and had recently began painting.  There was nothing he coundn't accomplish once he set his mind to it.  He was an inspiration and guiding light to many and he will be greatly missed.
