Funeral services for Roy Shanks, 82, of Indianola, who passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026 in Des Moines, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Roy is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years Marilyn Shanks; son Jim (Christina) Shanks; granddaughters, Kaylee Shanks and Lexi Shanks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Deleda Shanks; brothers Jerry Shanks and Max Shanks.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home. Memorials in memory of Roy may be given to the American Legion Post #165 in Indianola.
