James "Jim" Gerald Gustin, 81, of Oelwein, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at Good Samaritan Care Facility in Indianola, Iowa, after a rapid decline in health following a recent stroke.

Jim had various careers, including working for the railroad, owning a feed supply store and several positions in the freight and shipping industry. Jim led an active life pursuing his main outdoor interests of fishing and hunting. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, enjoyed golf, playing cards, watching NASCAR and spending time with family and friends.

Jim is survived by his children and their families, Richard Gustin (Rick Goure) of Palm Springs, CA, Jeannie Wessels of Pierce, CO and Marty (Kay) Gustin of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Derek (Mary) Wessels of Pierce, CO, Gannon Gustin of Des Moines, IA, Garrett Gustin of Des Moines, IA; and great-grandson Lucas Wessels of Pierce, CO. Jim is also survived by his brother Gene, sisters Janice and Kathy, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Catherine and brothers Robert and Darrell.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held later this year.
