March 25, 1957 – March 27, 2021
James Norris "Jim" Brown, 64, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the Taylor House in Des Moines. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m., April 3, 2021, at the American Legion hall in Indianola. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
Following the celebration of life service, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a graveside service and burial of cremains will be held at the Drakesville Cemetery in Davis County.
Jim is survived by his wife, Doreen (Dodie) Brown; daughter, Rane'e (Andrew) Middleton; grandchildren, Laramie Jackson, Cheyenne Frederick, Keregan Middleton, Andrea and Austin Middleton; great-grandchildren, Ian and Harper Jackson and Maci Ford; sister, Emily Ann (Jack) Rudd; niece, Melissa Rudd; nephew, Ethan Rudd, and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Marvin and Emily Iris Norris Brown and by his wife, Diane Egbert.
Jim was born in Bloomfield, Iowa, on March 25, 1957, and grew to manhood in Davis County. He was a 1975 graduate of Davis County Community High School. While growing up, he was active in Boy Scouts and the United Methodist Church.
Despite fragile health, Jim had an upbeat personality and loved being around people. He also was a car enthusiast from an early age.
Jim lived for a number of years in the Phoenix, AZ, area before moving to Indianola.
Most of the jobs Jim held involved salesmanship. These jobs including selling appliances in Chandler, AZ, cars in Carlisle, IA, and, for approximately the last dozen years of his life, being an insurance agent with Hometown Insurance in Indianola. Due to ill health, he retired from Hometown Insurance a few weeks before his death.
Jim also attended a nondenominational Christian church in Indianola.
