Obituary

Funeral Mass for Jack D. Spencer, 75, who died Sunday, October 24, 2004 at home, will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 28, 2004, at St. John's Catholic Church in Cumming, Iowa. Burial will follow in the St. John's Cemetery.

Mr. Spencer was born in Van Wert, Iowa and had lived in the Cumming and Orilla areas for the past 63 years. He retired from Smith's Meats in Orilla where he was a butcher/meat cutter. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, loved the Hawkeyes, family and old country music.

He is survived by daughters, Mary Weaver of St. Marys, Jackie Spencer of Decatur and

and Bobbie Spencer of Boxholm; four brothers, Junior, Denny, Gary and Tony Spencer; five grandchildren, Terah Henson, Isaac Newton, Robert Newton, Melissa Crouch, and Garrett Crouch. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen, granddaughter, Laci Spencer and Layla and Louiea Newton.

Visitation will be held 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, at St. John's Catholic Church where the family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and a Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be designated to St. John's Catholic Church or Cumming American Legion Post #562.
