Kenneth Jackie Cruchelow was born October 24, 1942 to Kenneth and Cleta Cruchelow of Indianola, Iowa. He was a life long resident of Indianola. Jack graduated from Indianola High School in 1961. He met the woman of his dreams and married her, Evelyn Darlene McLeod, in 1963. They were married for 60 wonderful years. They were blessed with three children, Todd, Jill and Christine. He was very proud of his wife, kids and grandkids.
Jack held many jobs throughout his lifetime. As a teenager, he put up hay and picked corn by hand. He raised cows, pigs and chickens on the farm and performed the chores that come along with living on a farm. At 18, he performed brick work and helped build the Indianola High School working for a contractor. At 19, he went to Kansas City where he applied hydro-seeding (mixture of seed and mulch) along the interstate. After that he went to work for Hallett where he paved Kansas Schilling Air Force Base. He helped build a shop for Von Terrell. He then went to work for his father-in-law at C.G. McLeod Construction for 5 years where he was a laborer, layed pipe and cleared brush ahead of the grading crew. His next job lasted for 33 years where he worked for Armstrong (Pirelli, Titan). He retired from there but couldn't stay retired. He worked 10 years for the City of Des Moines as a casual inspector surveying crossroads. He retired from there and had a short stent as a Herta bus driver. His last and final job was working as a driver for O'Reilly Auto Parts in Indianola. He was a hard worker and very dependable.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman which he enjoyed throughout his entire life. In his 50's he enjoyed being behind the wheel racing Figure 8 cars in the Senior Division. His passion after retirement was traveling to nearby towns and playing Texas Hold'em and Bingo with many friends he made along the way. Even after he began his final journey in life, he made sure to make it to the poker tournaments. When in the hospital he even had a few games with his grandsons and daughter. Growing up and after having his own family, he always enjoyed family dinners, debating and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Darlene Cruchelow; children, Todd (Lisa) Cruchelow, Jill (Ron Hutchison) Cruchelow and Christine (Larry McKinney) Cruchelow; grandchildren, Max (Katlin Bidne) Moon, Jonathon (Megan) VanderEcken, Emilee (Taren Pfitzer) Cruchelow and Hunter Cruchelow plus 2 great grandchildren Easton and Maverick VanderEcken. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Cleta Cruchelow and sister, Sharon Dittmer.
