Imogene was born October 3, 1923 in Montgomery Co. Illinois. Following graduation from North High School in Des Moines she worked packing bullets in the ordinance plant during the W.W. II. She was united in marriage to Jacob Sparks on December 29, 1945. Imogene enjoyed crocheting, reading the Bible and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob Sparks in 2007, her son Will, a brother and a sister.
Imogene is survived by her daughters, Linda (Jim) Looker of rural Liberty Center and Nancy (Roger) Miller of Ottumwa; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin Short of Osage Beach, MO, Wilmer and Merle Short of West Des Moines, and Earl Short of Waukee; sisters, Mildred Creek of Norwalk, CA and Etta Dorrell of Des Moines.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday, February 27 at Overton Funeral Home where the family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be given to the Martensdale Church of Christ or Hospice of Central Iowa.
