BUD SCHRIER Carlisle Services for Bud Schrier, 82, who died Monday, January 14, 2013 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, January 19 at the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Burial with military rites will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Indianola. Bud was born in Warren County, IA to Hugh and LaVeda Schrier on April 2, 1930. He retired from NAPA after 35 years and was involved in the American Legion, Boy Scouts of America, Carlisle United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and the VFW. He received numerous awards for his work with the American Legion and Boy Scouts of America. Bud enjoyed spending time with family and friends, collecting and restoring John Deere tractors, being a member of the Central Iowa Tractor Club, and following the Iowa Hawkeyes. He is survived by his son, Dr. James (Lauren) Schrier of Moline, IL. Preceding him in death were his parents Hugh and LaVeda Schrier, wife Betty Lou Schrier and brother Jack Schrier. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 18 at the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the American Legion Post #391 in Carlisle.
