Service and interment with Military Rites for Howard Max Soper, 93, who passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 26 in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter, IA.

Howard Max Soper, one of 11 children was born to Fred and Flossie (Rood) Soper on October 10, 1923 in Dow City, Iowa.  On September 28, 1943 he entered into active duty in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on April 27, 1946.

He was united in marriage to Audrey Christine McVey on January 27, 1947 in Troy Kansas.  To this union a son, Richard was born.  Howard retired from the City of Indianola in 1985 after close to 28 years.  He enjoyed Square dancing, playing cards, livestock, horses and fishing.

Howard is survived by his wife, Audrey Soper; son, Richard Soper and sister, Nellie Critz.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and nine siblings.

Memorials may be given to the Temple of God Church in Indianola.
