HOLLIS L. PENFOLD Osceola Services for Hollis L. Penfold, 82, who died Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola, will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in Resthaven Cemetery, Des Moines. Visitation will be held prior to services starting at Noon. Hollis LaRoy Penfold was born October 2, 1930 the son of Roy and Luella Jane (Roberts) Penfold in Cumberland, Iowa. He was a 1948 graduate of Corning High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Wright who passed away in 1988. In 1991, he married Virginia Hauge. Hollis worked for SuperValu in Des Moines for 36 years, retiring in 1994. Having lived in Osceola for the past one and a half years, he had spent the majority of his life in Des Moines. He enjoyed traveling in his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; children, Mike Penfold, Christine (Clint) Seeley and Lynn (Kevin) Simmons; step-children, David (Debbie) Hauge, Carrol (Bruce) Duncan, Charlene (Doug) Deitrick and Ginny Smith; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy Penfold, daughter Holly Walker, step-daughter Julie Langholz, and brother Harley Penfold. Memorials contributions may be given to Care Initiative Hospice or for Alzheimer's research
