Henriette J. Ellsworth, 98, of Indianola, died August 4, 2008 at The Village in Indianola where she had been a resident for the past seventeen years.  Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 13 at The Village, Maplecrest Centre Lounge.  So in death she could serve the living, her body was donated to the Deeded Body Program for Medical Research at the University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City.  Burial of the cremains will be at a later date.

Henriette was born September 26, 1909 in Omaha, Nebraska to Julius and Henrietta Maurer.  On September 27, 1930 she married Walter F. Ellsworth who preceded her in death in 2003.  She lived in Omaha and Sidney, Nebraska; Iowa City, Whippany, New Jersey; Reykjavik, Iceland and Saylorville for 27 years before moving to The Village in Indianola in 1992.

Henriette was a devoted Mother and wife.  She made marriage, husband and children her career.  She loved to write stories and captured a lifetime of memories for her family in her "Shoebox Tales by Grandma".  She was a member of the Auburn Chapter of Eastern Star and the United Methodist Church of Morristown, New Jersey.

She is survived by her children; son Walter Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Dorothy Morgan of Menifee, California and Phyllis Schroeder of Chatham, New Jersey; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
