Obituary

Helen Jean (Covey) Schooler, daughter of Irvin and Faralene (Kinnison) Covey, was born August 7, 1933 in Mercer County, Missouri near Princeton, MO and died Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the age of at 92. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, MO.

She grew up near Spickard, Missouri, graduating from Princeton High School, in 1951. She was united in marriage to John Phillip (J.P.) Schooler, son of Phillip and Mildred Schooler, of Princeton, MO. To this union was born a daughter, Cindy of Edgerton, KS and a son, Jim of Indianola, IA.

They lived several years in California and moved to Indianola in 1958. Helen worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Indianola Community Schools for several years and she had a ceramic business for many years. After J.P. died, she went to work for Peoples Trust and Savings Bank and retired from there in 2003.

Helen enjoyed playing the organ, ceramics, sewing, making quilts and she loved to dance. She was a member of the Farmers Chapel Methodist Church and served on the Sunset Knolls Home Association Board for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two sisters. Surviving include her daughter, Cindy Schooler; son, Jim; grandson, Brett (Samantha) Schooler; two great-granddaughters, McKenzie and Zarriah; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Memorials in memory of Helen may be given to the Cancer and Heart Association.
