Helen married Vern Foust on August 21, 1931. They had four children: Jerry -- who died at age two in October 1937 -- Marilyn, Carolyn and Gary. Helen lived most of her life in or around Indianola, and was a 1930 graduate of Indianola High School.

She enjoyed reading -- especially Westerns by Louis L'Amour, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends. She had read the entire Bible twice.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Hannibal and Minnie Jones Utsler; brothers Leonard, Elmer, Glenn and Cecil; husband, Vern; and son, Jerry.

She is survived by daughter Marilyn Kuhn and husband Joel of West Des Moines, Iowa; daughter Carolyn Penfield and husband Cleo of Lemmon, South Dakota; son Gary Foust and wife LaVerta of Indianola; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 10, 2006, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 11, at 10:30 a.m., at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, followed by interment in the Norwalk Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Helen's name to Hospice of Central Iowa or Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Indianola.
