Harvey L. Taylor lost his battle with cancer at age 63 on Sunday, November 29, 2009, he found peace and eternal life with his Lord Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. at the Norwalk Christian Church on Saturday, December 5. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 4th at the church.

Harvey was born on September 13th, 1946 in Corydon, Iowa to Roy & Juanita Taylor (Robinson). He graduated from Interstate 35 High School in 1965. After high school he attended Lincoln Technical Institute. He married his high school sweetheart Twyla Whitlow and they have resided in Norwalk for the past 40 years.

Harvey built a family legacy with the success of Harvey's Automotive and Machine in Norwalk which he founded in 1989. He was a member of Norwalk Chamber Commerce, Norwalk Lion's Club, Norwalk Kiwanis, & an Elder of the Norwalk Christian Church. Harvey & Twyla were awarded the Citizens of the Year award from the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce in 2006-2007. Harvey received the Melvin Jones award from the Lion's Club. He found joy at the local dirt tracks and was a very accomplished engine builder, chassis builder, and crew chief for racing teams. He helped coordinate and sponsor a car in the annual Soap Box Derby. He is admired for his civic duties and big heart.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Twyla of Norwalk; son, Jerry (Annette) Taylor of Cumming; daughter, Diana (Craig) Hanner of Polk City; grandchildren, Austin and Genavie Hanner; sister, Carol (Mike) Nieters; brothers, Bill (Vickie) Taylor, Kenny (Margie) Smith, and Dan (Patty) Taylor. He had several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Taylor; brother, John Taylor; and sister, Maurita Taylor.
