Harriett was born July 6, 1935 in rural Warren County, Iowa to Gerald and Josephine Norris. She graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1952. Soon thereafter, Harriett took a train to San Francisco to marry her high school sweetheart Don, a naval radioman stationed there. After residing in California and Hawaii for a time, Harriett and Don moved to Indianola where together they raised their two sons, Gregory and James.

Harriett will be remembered for her unique sense of humor, charm and good-natured, loving spirit.

Harriett is survived by her son, Gregory Garrison; grandchildren Hannah, Rebekah, Micah and Sarah Garrison; and sister Joan (Willard) Garrison. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Martin (Don); and son James.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be given to Green Plain United Methodist Church.
