HAROLD L. KING
Services for Harold L. "Pete" King, 74, of Indianola, who passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018, will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The visitation will be held prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Harold "Pete" King was born May 11, 1944 in Kansas City, KS, and was adopted by Dan and Sylva (King) King when he was five years old. He graduated from Turner High School in 1962 and following graduation, he worked in his father's cabinet shop. It was at this time that he discovered a love of flying. Pete quickly earned his private pilot license and would eventually become a commercial pilot with a multi-engine instructor's rating. He loved to teach.
Pete had a love of music and spent much of his life singing, writing and performing. He had a strong interest in modern day inventions as well, and held several patents of his own. The last 30 years of Pete's life were spent teaching God's word across the country. His passion was infectious and he affected lives wherever the Spirit led him. He enjoyed helping the broken people of this world by giving them hope and a vision of redemption through Christ's love. His passion was great and he truly never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his children, Mickey (Julie) King, Russ (Amanda) King; grandchildren, Daniel, Noah and Henry King; sisters, Joyce and Carolyn King. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Sylva King; siblings, Chester King, Juanita Porter, Carol Sue Lindsey, Larry, Gary and George Coldren; and grandson Samuel King.
Memorials may be given to the family in his name.
