Hal grew up on a farm near Myerstown, PA., the son of Nathan and Ada Heisey. He graduated from Richland High School and went on to graduate from McPherson College and Drake University with a Masters Degree.
He was united in marriage to Elinor Stine on June 14, 1952 in Adel. After teaching and coaching for 12 years at SE Warren and Indianola he built and opened Indian Lanes Bowling Alley in Indianola. He later went on to build many homes and renovated commercial and residential properties and also to help his daughters open their businesses including Wicker and The Works in Valley Junction. Hal and Ellie enjoyed spending winters in their home in Arizona. Hal loved his time at his lake retreat which he built near Indianola and enjoyed sharing with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Elinor; daughters, Victoria (Mark) Veiock of West Des Moines and Kayla (Cliff) Stroh of Clive; and five grandchildren.
Visitation with family present will be held 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, July 13 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren.
