Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Gwendolyn (Kaye) Stewart, a remarkable woman whose vibrant spirit touched everyone she met. She passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the age of 90 years old, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and resilience.

Born on February 9, 1934 in Murray, Iowa, Kaye lived a life filled with curiosity and joy. Her boundless energy and zest for life inspired everyone around her. Even into her 90s, she remained fiercely independent, working and driving with a determination that defied her years.

An avid traveler, she explored the world with an open heart and an adventurous soul. From bustling cities to serene landscapes, she sought out the beauty and diversity of every destination. Her travels were always accompanied by a love for discovering new cuisines and restaurants, where she would savor each dish with enthusiasm and often share her recommendations with friends and family.

Kaye was more than an adventurer; she was the heart of her family and a friend to all. She had an innate ability to make everyone feel special, whether through her warm smile, her insightful advice, or her infectious laughter. Her strength, kindness, and unshakable optimism will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving family, including: grandson, Tony and wife Machelle, great grandchildren Tyler and Logan; daughter, Connie; grandchildren Tommy, Amber and Tiffany and some very special nieces and nephews and a circle of friends whose lives she enriched with her presence. She is now reunited with those who preceded her in passing, including her daughter, Vikki Blake and son, Patrick Stewart; parents Lorraine Glen and Birdie Carol Soll and brother Wade Lorraine Soll.

A celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, where friends and family are invited to share stories and memories of the extraordinary woman she was.

Though she may no longer walk among us, Kaye leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and inspiration. She taught us to embrace life fully, to cherish every moment, and to never stop exploring. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
